Residents are being warned of a weather condition that has shrouded parts of the UAE in heavy fog on Wednesday morning, with visibility dropping to 100 metres in parts.
While an official word is awaited, the Abu Dhabi Airports flight ticker indicates several delays in the departures schedule, including flights to London Heathrow, Munich and Phuket, among others.
Abu Dhabi Police has also issued a warning to motorists on the road, tweeting via its official account: “Low visibility due to fog formation on different parts in Abu Dhabi and highways. Motorists are urged to take extra caution.”
Reports are coming in of slow moving traffic on Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway, beyond the border, while heading into the capital.
Meanwhile, the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology is warning that the fog formation is largely centred over some western areas of the country, with visibility down to 100 metres in Al Hamra, Abu Dhabi.
The NCMS further stated: “Patches of fog also visible over Abu Dhabi-Dubai road.”
