The official UAE Haj mission, headed by Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrouei, arrived in Makkah on Saturday and performed Umrah ahead of the rituals of Haj.

Around four million pilgrims from across the globe are expected to perform Haj this year.

The 156-strong mission for this year has representatives from the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, Ministry of Health, Abu Dhabi and Dubai health authorities, Ministry of Interior, National Media Council, newspapers and other organisations.

Upon arriving at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, the mission was received by Ahmed Mahmoud Mangoush, UAE Consul General in Jeddah, Obaid Humaid Al Zaabi, Deputy Head of the Preparatory Committee and a number of the UAE consulate's officials.

Al Mazrouei praised the unlimited support being given to pilgrims by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Teams from the mission also headed to Madinah to ensure that UAE pilgrims there get top quality services. They will later join the mission in Makkah at Mount Arafat in culmination of the pilgrimage rites.
