UAE Rain Impact: Etisalat told to dismantle sphere at head office

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has instructed Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) to dismantle a spherical object atop its head office in Abu Dhabi City after the structure was severely damaged by strong winds over the past two days.

The NCEMA said it asked the telecom company to provide engineering solutions to contain the damage and dismantle the sphere.

Representatives of Etisalat, construction companies and consultants held meetings overnight to discuss the damage.

NCEMA also urged the public to follow traffic instructions on the main roads leading to Etisalat's building while risks are being assessed and before the roads are reopened.
