UAE weather: Rain in Dubai, Sharjah puts motorists on poor visibility alert

UAE residents woke up to thunder and lightning on Wednesday morning.

Parts of Dubai witnessed early morning showers and reports of rain were coming in from Sharjah too.

The National Center for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has called on drivers to be cautious while driving, to reduce speed, and to leave enough space between vehicles, due to low visibility.

A statement issued by the Center on Tuesday said there will be cumulus clouds and active winds, lifting dust and resulting in low visibility and rough sea.

Different parts of the country witnessed rains on Tuesday and is expected to continue today as well.

The UAE will experience hazy to partly cloudy weather, becoming cloudy at times over some of the UAE's Western and Southern areas by Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning, with a probability of some rainfall, the National Center for Metereology and Seismology (NCMS) has said.

‎Fresh south easterly winds could also cause sand to blow lover open areas, while the water will remain moderate and may become rough at times in the Arabian Gulf.

The soaring temperatures, which hit highs of 34.4 degrees Celsius on Monday in Seih Al Salem, are expected to cool off by tomorrow following the rainfall, with Thursday's weather expected to be partly cloudy also, with rough seas and slight chance of rainfall.

Last week, the UAE experienced heavy rainfall, with sporadic hail storms continuing‎ for two days.

The NCMS stated the weather pattern was consistent of the transitional system between seasons.
