UAE weather: Visibility warning to motorists

By Joseph George and staff

Motorists in the UAE have been warned to take precautions while driving as visibility levels are expected to drop because of sand and dust.

UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology has sent out an alert to all residents warning them of the developing situation.

“Visibility is expected to be poor. Motorists especially need to be careful,” an NCMS official told Emirates 24/7.

According to this morning’s forecast, the weather is going to be hazy and partly cloudy, especially the northern and eastern areas of the UAE.

“The winds will be moderate southerly over most of areas, becoming fresh at times, especially over the interior and the sea, with another rise in day temperatures. Chances of dust over some areas in the interior. Sea will be moderate to rough at times offshore,” the forecast said.

Temperatures across coastal areas will range between a minimum of 15 to 25 degrees celsius.

The cold snap that has swept across Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries in the Arabian Peninsula seems ready to affect the UAE, if the forecast by the  NCMSis anything to go by.

The forecast for Tuesday continues to have cloudy weather in general , but now a drop in day temperatures as well.

The sea will be moderate in general , becoming rough at times.

The relative humidity will increase over internal and coastal areas during night and early morning , chance of fog over some of these areas , especially westwards

Minimum temperatures are forecast to continue to hover between 15 degrees C from near the sea to, 9 degrees C inland, and in the mountain areas a low of 7 degrees C.

The change going into tomorrow is that maximum temperatures during the day are also forecast to decrease.

The sea is expected to be moderate to rough at times.
