Two vessels caught fire on Ajman creek on Monday, injuring three Asian seamen, according to the Civil Defence Department in Ajman.

‘Emarat Al Youm’ reported the injuries ranged from minor to medium.

The Director-General of the Civil Defence Department in Ajman, Brigadier Saleh Saeed Al Matrooshi, said the operations room received a call on Monday morning, informing them of a fire on two vessels that allegedly collided.

Civil defence forces rushed to the scene and called into use tankers of the Ajman port.

The fire was tackled in three phases, with the rescue teams trapping the fire area in the first phase; the second phase was to prevent it from spreading to other ships; the last stage brought the fire under control using water and heavy foam.

Ajman Police imposed a security cordon at the port, while security authorities will investigate the cause of the fire.
