A video clip is said to be doing the rounds of a lady being attacked while using an ATM in Dubai. The Dubai Police has stated that no such incident has happened.

In a tweet posted this morning, the Dubai Police clarification stated: “A video clip has recently surfaced on the internet of a lady using an ATM & being attacked. Dubai Police denies the occurrence of this incident.”

In the video, a woman is shown entering an ATM after which a man enters from behind, preventing the lady from getting out.

The man, whose face can be clearly seen in the video, then begins to assault the woman and is shown taking out what looks like a knife from a bag he is carrying. The man is shown carrying a pistol too while exiting the scene.

The police have studied the video and deemed it fake for several reasons.

There are no metal doors used at ATM outlets in the UAE as the video shows.

ATMs in the country have glass doors, opened by cards if needed and monitored by CCTV cameras. The police added that it is unlikely an attacker would carry so many tools in a bag and commit a crime without covering his face.

Sharjah Police arrest 313 illegal residents

Sharjah Police arrested 313 people in December who have been living illegally in the emirate.

Most of them were either absconders or those who had entered the country after being deported earlier. They were also engaged in illegal activities such as begging.

The Department of Criminal Investigation of Sharjah Police who nabbed them has referred them to competent legal authorities.

Colonel Jihad Sahoo, Director of Criminal Investigation, Sharjah Police , most of them lived in abandoned old houses and construction sites.

He called on the public to alert authorities when they see illegal activities in their neighbourhood.
