Weekend UAE weather: Winds, fog, haze

The fresh winds that have been kicking up dust and sand these past few days will finally lose steam by Friday evening, giving rise to a spoke in humidity levels and early morning fog.

The last 48 hours have seen UAE residents complain of blowing dust and sand, especially across open areas.

The country’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has forecasted the weather on Friday will be fair in general, with partial cloud cover over the eastern parts of the UAE.

The northwesterly winds will remain moderate in general, becoming fresh at times during the morning hours over the Arabian Gulf.

A marine alert stays in place, with rough waters forecasted during Friday morning, becoming moderate post noon in the Arabian Gulf, even as the Oman Sea becomes rough in the later hours.

The NCMS further stated: “The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning over some coastal and internal areas, with the chance of fog formations over some areas.”

Once the fog clears on Saturday, the rest of the day is expected to be clear in general, with some low clouds expected to appear over the eastern mountains by noon.

Light to moderate winds will keep the sea relatively calm in the Arabian Gulf, and moderate to rough at times in the Oman Sea.

The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning times over some coastal and internal areas with the chance of fog formation, especially over some western areas on Sunday morning.
