What's pay difference between CEO and average employee?

Published
By Shuchita Kapur

CEOs make a lot more than the average salary of an employee in any company but in some cases the pay package of the top boss can be more than 1,000 times the median pay of the guys sitting in small cubicles, highlighting the pay disparities at the workplace.

According to data released by jobs website www.glassdoor.com, across the S&P 500 companies it analysed to compare what their CEOs earn, an average top boss was paid $13.8 million per year whereas an average median worker’s pay was about $77,800, leading to an average ratio of 2014 CEO pay to median worker pay.

In other words, on average, CEOs earn 204 times more than what his or her employees earn. In addition, there are some CEOs who earn even more, and some CEOs who earn much less, say experts at the website.
