The Dubai’s Traffic Police have launched a ‘Summer Without Accidents’ which primarily aims at ensuring there are no traffic accidents due to tyre-related incidents.

The campaign includes a stall at Deira City Centre which will provide detailed information on how to care for and maintain car tyres.

There were also be free screening for those who wish to check their tyres.

These testing centres  will be at Emarat petrol stations at two branches — the last one on Sheikh Zayed Road before reaching Abu Dhabi and at the Hatta border.

“We have had no accidents caused by tyres bursting this year,” Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen said.

Only seven traffic accidents in 2011 of a total of 2,300  were related to tyres.

He, however, called on those undertaking long journeys to be most careful.
The Traffic Police of Dubai during summer last year fined more than 3,000 cars because of tyre issues.
