Which TV serial most watched in UAE during Ramadan?

The TV series ‘Betrayal of Homeland’, which was aired on Abu Dhabi TV during the holy month of Ramadan, has been ranked first in television viewership ratings by the Annual Gulf Ramadan Drama Poll.

According to the poll, 72 per cent of Emiratis watched this televised drama.

With this TV series, the UAE drama ushered in a new historic turning point to address the national policy issue. It is the first national political work of drama in the history of the UAE television. It deals with genuine and sensitive events experienced by the UAE community for years.

The serial, produced by the Abu Dhabi Media was adapted from the book ‘Secrets of Muslim Brotherhood Organisation’ written by novelist Hamad Al Hammadi.

It depicts the history of the Brotherhood and delves deeply into the social life of its members, while showing the impact of destructive ideas they unleash on the social environment.

A group of Emirati drama stars were part of the serial.

Since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, it led in the ratings as many viewers interacted with the serial through social networking sites.
The first episode of the serial was followed by millions across the Arab world.

The hashtag #Betrayal of Homeland or #Khayant Watan on Twitter exceeded 48 million viewers in less than one hour.

Actors and actresses from the TV serial also interacted with the UAE and Gulf audiences on social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, among others. The serial began trending so fast on Twitter that it registered nearly 233 million views.
