The Dubai Police have decided to train and appoint an all-women patrolling team to guard the emirate's markets.
The General Department of Organisations Protective Security and Emergency of Dubai Police has arrived at this decision after conducting research and looking into the issues that affect these markets.
The patrol squad in the market will help bring down the number of fraud cases.
The policewomen are chosen on the basis of their experience and they are expected to be versatile in both Arabic and English.
This initiative will kick off from Deira Gold Souq and then will be expanded to the clothing market in Bur Dubai near Al Fahidi Street and others later.
The policewomen will be trained in self defence and will be equipped to handle all kinds of situations and security issues.
