Thousands of shoppers braved long queues on the first day of the big clearance sale in Dubai. Hundreds of patient shoppers waited in the hallway before the doors were finally opened to them at 11am today.

Starting today until April 2, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishments (DFRE) – an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) – will hold this new retail event: The Spring Clearance.

Happy shoppers took the opportunity to pick up their designer products with price tags at up to 80 per cent off.

The big number of residents who turned up led to long billing queues. “Thousands of people have turned have and we have 15 tills,” said a sales executive at the Debenhams, requesting people to queue up patiently.

The sale runs across three halls 1, 2 and 3 at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 11am to 11pm, and entry is free.

Up to 80 per cent discount is being offered across 40 international fashion, lifestyle and beauty brands. Adidas, BCBGMaxAzria, Ted Baker, Zara Home, Boggi, Salsa, Toms, Tommy Hilfiger, Aldo and many more.

The big shoppers will also be rewarded with a chance to win two daily prizes of Dh5,000 and a Dodge Challenger.

“Retail promotions in Dubai like The Big Spring Clearance provide participating retailers an excellent platform for brand awareness, and also offer them the opportunity to clear stocks before the arrival of the new season, while enhancing the overall shopping experience in Dubai,” said Laila Mohammad Suhail, CEO of DFRE.
