His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree No.3 for the year 2014 on establishing a committee to deal with the debts of the citizens in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Decree stipulated that a committee under the name "Committee for dealing with the debts of Sharjah Citizens" will be established to address the loans of the citizens in the Emirate of Sharjah, which will enjoy necessary legal status and independence to perform its mission under the authority of the Ruler.

The main headquarters of the committee will be in the city of Sharjah, and after decision from the Ruler, the committee shall establish branches or offices within the emirate of Sharjah.

Under the provisions of the decree, the committee will also supervise the implementation of the directives of the Ruler on paying debts of citizens in Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan also held a meeting today with the Board members of the committee to deal with the debts of Sharjah citizens.

Sheikh Sultan unveiled the priorities on which the debts of the citizens would be paid off, out of his keenness on securing decent life and preserving the family cohesion since it is the basis of the society.

"The committee set up today will bring smile on the faces of the people who are under heavy debts," Sheikh Sultan hoped and added that the priority should be given to those who are in prisons for non-payment of their financial liabilities.
