Dubai Police has launched a campaign to educate motorists about the dangers of stopping in the yellow box at traffic junctions.

The campaign titled ‘Do not stop in a yellow box junction’ – which began on October 26 and will run until November 12 – aims to eradicate traffic jams.

Colonel Jamal Al Banai, Acting Director, Traffic Department, federal traffic law prohibits motorists from stopping in the yellow box junction and impeding normal traffic flow.

Col. Banai said motorists caught stopping in the yellow box at traffic junctions will face a fine of Dh500.

Meanwhile, Colonel Dr Jasim Khalil Merza, Director, Awareness Department, Dubai Police, said some drivers enter the box even when there is a traffic jam ahead and this causes obstruction of traffic flow as well as arguments among motorists on the road.

The campaign aims to educate motorists about the dangers of stopping in the yellow box and eradicating jams, he added.

As part of the campaign, awareness programmes will be aired on TV channels. Also Dubai Police will sent messages on its social media.
