Gen. Mohamed, Kyrgyz leader hold talks

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, held talks with the visiting President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev at Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed President Atambayev and expressed the hope that his visit would bolster bilateral cooperation between the UAE and Kyrgyzstan.

The talks centred on ways to enhance bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation in various fields for the best interests of the two countries and peoples.

The two sides recognised the importance of developing economic, trade, investment and developmental ties, particularly in the trade exchange and infrastructure sectors.

They also stressed the need for opening up new opportunities for establishing joint projects that spur further progress in bilateral relations for the benefit of both countries.

Speaking during the talks, Sheikh Mohamed said, ''The UAE's ties with other friendly countries, which are based on mutual understanding, cooperation and commitment to humanitarian responsibility, have made an impressive impact, and have left us with an abundance of regard and respect, with a prominent place among nations and peoples.''

He emphasised that the UAE, under the leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was looking forward to taking its ties with Kyrgyzstan to a new level of growth and prosperity in realisation of the aspirations of the two peoples.

On his part, President Atambayev expressed delight at visiting the UAE, meeting Sheikh Mohamed and viewing the remarkable experiments and projects in the economic, tourist and developmental sectors and the growth the UAE has achieved over the past 43 years. He said that his country was interested in strengthening its ties with the UAE and in creating new opportunities for joint projects that serve mutual interests.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and his delegation.

Sheikh Mohamed hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of his guest and the accompanying delegation.  

Present at the meeting and banquet were Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) and a number of civilian and military officials.
