His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces (R), receives Baroness Catherine Ashton High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union and Vice-President of the European Commission (L), prior to a meeting at Al Mamoura in Abu Dhabi.(Wam)
General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday received at Al Mamoura, the visiting EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi welcomed Ashton and her accompanying delegation. Sheikh Mohammed and Ashton discussed the relations between the UAE and EU, as well as ways to enhance them.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister attended the meeting.
The meeting also tackled the latest regional developments in the region and the situation in Egypt. The two sides agreed that Egypt's stability is a key to the stability of the region. They also discussed the current preparations for the "Geneva-2 Conference'' on the Syrian crisis and the international efforts to make it successful.
Sheikh Mohammed underscored the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to achieve the stability and security in the region to serve the development and growth.
Among those who attended the meeting were Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Suleiman Hamed Salem Al Mazrouei, Head of the U.A.E. Mission to EU and UAE Ambassador to Belgium and EU officials.
