Maktoum honours Emirates Appreciation Award for the Environment winners

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, has honoured winners of the 1st edition of Emirates Appreciation Award for the Environment.

The Award comprises of five categories pertaining to the protection of local environment and keeping it clean and free of pollution.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Sheikh Maktoum watched a documentary film on the importance and objectives of the award, in the light of the care given by the prudent leadership to preserve national environment, boosting cleanliness and environment protection culture among the segments of the society through practical activities.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and General Security, received the environmental personality award for his outstanding contributions to promoting environmental conservation and preservation over the years.

Sheikh Maktoum handed the award to Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim in the presence of Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, and other officials.

The Emirates Appreciation Award for the Environment was launched by the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment, under the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in order to recognise and promote the values of sustainable living and environmentally conscious initiatives among the UAE community.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Environment Agency and Natural Reserves in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company, ADMA-OPCO were among the honourees.

Sheikh Maktoum congratulated the winners, wishing good luck to all segments of the Emirati society in order preserve the local environment.

A number of Sheikhs, ministers, dignitaries and heads of departments and national companies attended the event.
