Mohamed bin Zayed leads national procession to mark Qasr Al Hosn Festival

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has led the national procession to celebrate the 2nd Qasr Al Hosn Festival in Abu Dhabi.

A number of their Highnesses Crown Princes, sheikhs, dignitaries and citizens from different emirates took part in the celebration, which reflected a cohesion between the leadership and people. The procession started from al Manhal Palace and moved towards Qasr Al Hosn to celebrate over 250 years of its construction.

Among the participants in the event were Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah; Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region; Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Surour bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council of Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative, Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, a number of Al Nahyan Sheikhs, members of the executive council and senior officials.

General Mohamed toured Qasr Al Hosn, where he was briefed about the renovation phases and materials used to sustain its distinguished structure. Those in charge of the renovation said they apply the international specifications and standards regarding the face-lifting of the archaeological and heritage sites.

General Mohamed said the preservation of forefathers heritage stems from the basic principles of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in safeguarding the UAE heritage and civilisation.
 
"Our grandfathers constructed the foundations of this prestigious building, which we are proud of today. We had pledged and continue to do so today that this course will continue as UAE citizens sustain the vision of forefathers to hand it over to the next generation."
 
He added that the Qasr Al Hosn Festival "represents a vital and model initiative to reflect an important phase in history that extends to present and its development achievements in the UAE. As we develop in our economic and social life, we stick more to our history. We look at the past to derive from it our future power."
 
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said the national procession to observe Qasr Al Hosn Festival "is a genuine expression about our pride in the UAE's national heritage and performance of the forefathers." He lauded the level of organisation of the festival.

Mohamed bin Zayed receives Prince Charles


General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Friday, February 21, received Britain's Prince Charles (the Prince of Wales), during a short visit to the country.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Prince Charles and exchanged cordial talks with him on the friendship and co-operation between the UAE and the United Kingdom UK and ways to strengthen them for the benefit of the two friendly peoples and countries.

During the meeting, Prince Charles was re-assured on the health of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and conveyed best wishes of Elizabeth II Queen of England of good health for him.

They also reviewed the strong historic ties and the shared strategic interests of the two countries as well as the latest development sin the regional and international arenas and other issues of mutual interest.

Prince Charles expressed his happiness at visiting the UAE again, praising the nature of the ties between the two countries.

Prince Charles' visit comes after less than a year after the state visit of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the UK in April and May 2013, while Britain's Queen Elizabeth and her consort, the Duke of Edinburgh, visited the UAE at the invitation of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa at the end of 2010.
