Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, accompanied by Sudanese President, Omer Al-Bashir and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, inspected NIMR’s Rapid Intervention Vehicle at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference, IDEX 2017, in Abu Dhabi.

During its unveiling, NIMR’s CEO, Dr. Fahad Saif Harhara, said, "We have listened carefully to the special operations community and incorporated their combat experience into the design and development of this light and powerful 4x4 rapid intervention vehicle. The NIMR RIV is our most modern special forces platform available."

The NIMR RIV uses its speed and agility as a critical advantage to enable a crew of four to quickly traverse various terrains in all operational environments.

It is equipped with under-body blast protection and modular applique armour packs for ballistic protection, greatly increasing crew survivability without sacrificing mobility.

The NIMR RIV can be transported either by fast ground transit or helicopter, underslung or inside a CH-47.

The RIV addresses a bespoke set of operational requirements that enable elite units to carry out covert operations without alerting enemy or insurgent forces.

Their Highnesses Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed their admiration of UAE industries that are manufacturing products made by highly efficient and skilled Emiratis.

"These industries are the vanguard of a future industrial renaissance, especially in the field of manufacturing of defence equipment and weapons, that suit the needs of our brave armed forces," they said.
