Mohammed bin Rashid orders Dh50 million bonus for UAE football team

The UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has ordered the payment of Dh50 million as a bonus to the members of the UAE national football team in appreciation to their achievement of winning the 21st Gulf Cup championship.

Sheikh Mohammed met at his Palace in Za'beel the members of the UAE National Football Team who won the 21st Gulf Cup title in Bahrain.

Present at the meeting was Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed received the Cup from the team's captain Ismael Matar, then shook hands with members of the management and technical staff and congratulated them on the great achievement that had, he said, brought thrills and happiness to the hearts of the UAE citizens as well as the GCC people.

''I was following your training from the beginning as well as your matches in Gulf Cup and particularly the final match with Iraq and I was happy to see that national cohesion among you on the pitch as well as between you and our people who supported you. This embodies the spirit of national belonging for this precious country,'' the Vice President said.

In the attendance were Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Chairman of the General Authority for Youth and Sports, Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Director General of the Office of the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Major-General Mohammed Al Marri, Director-General of the DNRD, senior officials of the UAE Football Association, sportspersons and media representatives.

Congratulatory cables

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received the congratulatory cable from the Regional Chairman of the Special Olympics (Somena), Engineer Aymen Abdul Wahab on the UAE's winning of Khaliji 21st Gulf Cup title.

Meanwhile, the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has also received a similar cable from Abdul Wahab.

The Regional Chairman of the Special Olympics expressed in his two cables warm greetings to the UAE leadership, government and people on the UAE's victory, wishing more successes to Emirati champions in the next Winter Olympics in Korea.

He said the feat was a result of planning and dedication, wishing for the UAE to sustain such an achievement.

Mohammed leads UAE delegation to Economic Development Summit in Riyadh 

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will leave today for Saudi capital, Riyadh, leading the UAE delegation to the 3rd Arab Social and Economic Development Summit.

Sheikh Mohammed will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.

Mohammed attends Endurance Cup in Saih Al Salam 

UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended today the sixth edition of Endurance Cup, held in the Dubai International Endurance City in Saih Al Salam.

A number of international riders took part in the 160km race.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai and UAE minister of finance, a number of Sheikhs, senior officials and the Endurance Cup fans attended the event.   

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, led the riders on Nikos horse from Nad Al Sheba stable. 

The rider Abdullah Ghanem Al Marri won the top position of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Championship for the second year consecutively, while the rider Saeed Ahmed Jaber followed in the second position. The Italian rider Marco Sardo was the third. 

The Dubai Crown Prince presented the awards to the three winners.
