Mohammed bin Rashid receives Ban Ki-Moon

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon held talks today at Zabeel Palace over a host of regional and international topics concerning development, environment, security as well as humanitarian issues.

The UN chief commended the UAE for its support for peace, stability and environment and credited its humanitarian initiatives which he lauded as pioneering at the international level in delivering humanitarian and charitable assistance to the most impoverished peoples and disaster and war struck countries around the world.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed told the UN Secretary General that the UAE under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is always seeking to extend assistance to people in need without distinction of race, religion and political or geographical affiliation.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Minister, and a number of Sheikhs and senior officials.
 
Later, Sheikh Mohammed and Ban Ki-Moon witnessed the conclusion of an agreement on carbon between the Dubai Supreme Energy Council and the UN.

It was inked by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, and Dr. Elissar Sarrouh, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to the UAE.

Mohammed leaves for Egypt 

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Tuesday left for Egypt leading the country's delegation to the 2nd Arab economic, social and developmental summit, being held in the Egyptian resort of Sharma Al Shiekh.

He was seen off at Dubai International Airport by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group and a number of Sheikhs, ministers and top officials.

Sheikh Mohammed is accompanied by a high level delegation which include Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemy, and UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri.

Mohammed visits elderly citizen in hospital

Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accompanied by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited today an elderly citizen, Mohammed Salem Al Ka'abi at his hospital bed at the Dubai Hospital.

Sheikh Mohammed reassured himself of the health condition of the citizen in his early nineties and gave instructions to the medical staff to ensure him special care and attention needed by all geriatric patients.

The visit was made as part of Sheikh Mohammed's special attention to elderly citizens and his regular inspection to ensure them all their needs.

Last year, Sheikh Mohammed had visited the same citizen at his home in Al-Qor valley, 100kms off Ras Al Khaimah, to offer his condolences on the death of Al-Ka'abi's wife.
