Mohammed bolsters consumer protection

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has issued a number of Cabinet resolutions which were published in the recent issue of the official gazette.

These included Cabinet Resolution No 38 for 2013 on the fees of services provided by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

The fees will be levied as resolved by the Ministry of Finance and the Cabinet has the power to make any amendments to the fees or fines indicated in the resolution.

Cabinet Resolution No 2 for 2009 with respect to initiating some fees of the services provided by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development will hereby be revoked, and so will any ruling that is inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued Cabinet Resolution No 39 for 2013 establishing an office for minister of state which will be supervised by Minister of State Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber.

In addition, Sheikh Mohammed issued Cabinet Resolution No 40 for 2013 with respect to the organisational structure of the minister of state office, the minister’s organisational units and the powers of the office.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued Cabinet Resolution No 1 for 2014 on the rules and conditions of settlement with respect to the violations of the Federal Law No 24 for 2006 on consumer protection.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed issued Cabinet Resolution No 2 for 2014 with respect to applying mandatory standard specifications for the UAE as described in the appendix attached to the resolution.

The resolution will take effect 180 days from the date of publishing. 

Orders distribution of 114 houses

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the commencement of distribution of 114 houses in Al Qouz district 2 at cost about Dh158 million, to the citizens eligible for ready houses.

The move comes in line with keenness of Sheikh Mohammed on provision of the modern houses to the citizens to achieve family stability and ensure decent living conditions for them.

Sami Abdullah Gargash, Executive Director of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE), stressed keenness of the  MBRHE on responding quickly to the instructions of Sheikh Mohammed to build and allocate the houses to the citizens in Dubai.

He added that the project is part of the programme to replace the dilapidated buildings with new ones in Mushrif, Jumeirah, Khawaneej and Al Qouz districts in order to preserve the social fabric of citizens in these districts.
