Mohammed inspects municipal projects

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,  conducted an inspectional tour on Tuesday of the Dubai Municipality, where he was briefed on a number of projects proposed for implementation by the municipality in different areas in the emirate during the current year.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum and other officials.

Director General of Dubai Municipality Hussain Nasser Lootah, other officials and specialists made a detailed presentation of the projects.

Sheikh Mohammed also listened to the briefing on an innovative car-free initiative announced by the Dubai Municipality encouraging all government employees in the emirate to go to work on Wednesday using public transports and Dubai Metro.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the initiative as a contribution of Dubai Municipality to environmental protection through efforts to reduce carbon emission.

Sheikh Mohammed also viewed the designs of a massive housing project for citizens that will be built in phases on 50,000 plots in Deira and Bur Dubai. The houses have been designed according to high engineering specifications to ensure comfortable living for the citizens.

Lootah said that the municipality has enough plots of land in reserve in various parts of the emirate to build houses as per the directives of Sheikh Mohammed for providing suitable houses for every citizen, both men and women, now and in future.

The current project will benefit 1,200 national families and each three-storied villa will have a garden and play area for children as well as other amenities.

Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed about proposed second hand heavy-duty vehicles market and other projects in Dubai.
