Mohammed meets FNC speaker, members

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received on Tuesday afternoon at Zabeel Palace the Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, and members of FNC, who visited him to seek his guidance to enable them to upgrade the performance and noble message of the FNC to serve the nation and citizens.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was also present at the meeting.


Welcoming the FNC speaker and the members, Sheikh Mohammed congratulated them on winning seats in the recent FNC elections, describing the FNC as "a national institution that represents people and enjoys the support of the wise leadership, who look forward to activating the parliament's role to consolidate the concept of national work in terms of rendering service to the people and community."
While interacting with Dr. Al Qubaisi and the FNC members, Sheikh Mohammed said that his government and the FNC should work as one team to overcome obstacles that could hinder the sustainable development process outlined by the wise leadership to ensure the welfare of Emirati people and the coming generations.


"We put at the top of our priorities human resources to ensure happiness. Hence, I ask you, my brothers and sisters, to co-operate with the government to assess the needs of citizens and convey them to the leadership and the government. We are fully prepared to hear your views and thoughts with satisfaction as long as they aim to serve our dear loyal people," Sheikh Mohammed added.


Addressing them, he urged the parliamentarians to liaise between the government and the people, and learn from the experiences of others who had preceded them in the fields of national work. "I, personally, do not feel comfortable if I do not discover something new to benefit my country and people as well."

Sheikh Mohammed concluded by wishing the speaker and the FNC members all success in carrying out their national responsibilities with sincerity, efficiency and transparency.

Dr. Al Qubaisi expressed the pride of the FNC members to work with the UAE President, Vice-President and Members of Supreme Council the Rulers of the Emirates to strengthen the role of the parliament.

She pledged that the FNC will do what it takes to serve the citizens, elevate the nation's image and ensure the welfare of people.

Dr. Al Qubaisi commended the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and his continuous support to help the FNC discharge its national message.

Among others present were Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed hosted a banquet in honour of the guests.  

19 new judges sworn in before Mohammed bin Rashid

Nineteen new judges, including eight Emiratis and four judicial inspectors, at the Dubai Courts were sworn-in on Tuesday before His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at Zabeel Palace.


Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, attended the swearing-in ceremony.

The judges took oath before Sheikh Mohammed, and vowed to uphold justice, respect the law, perform their duties with integrity and devotion, and remain committed to honest practices as judges.


The Ruler of Dubai gave directives to the new judges to abide by the values of impartiality and integrity, work under the cloak of the law and of the legal profession, away from any bias, and grant everyone their rights.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed that no one is above the law, all are equal in the eyes of the law, and there can be no difference between rich and poor.


The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney-General of the Emirate of Dubai, Tarish Eid Al Mansouri, Director-General of Dubai Courts, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, and a number of officials.
