Mohammed: This is summit of innovation

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday described the Third Government Summit, which concluded on Wednesday, as ‘the summit of innovation, prosperity and unrelenting determination.’

"This summit has been exceptional. My brother, friend and mate, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed delivered a speech at the summit in which he talked about the past hardships, present challenges and the bright future. With his positive spirit, he is leading us to the future. This reminds us of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan," said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid at the conclusion of the Summit.

He added, "Mohamed, go ahead to the future and the people of the UAE follow you."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also thanked all the participants at the Summit which was organised for three days under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments.’

As part of the Summit, an awarding ceremony was organised for the winners of the second edition of the Best m-Government Service Award.

Mohammed receives Egyptian Prime Minister

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum  on Wednesday received Dr. Ibrahim Mahlab, Egyptian Prime Minister, on the sidelines of the Government Summit in Madinat Jumeirah, in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

The Egyptian Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation participating in the summit were welcomed by Sheikh Mohammed as he expressed his hope that the summit will produce a positive outcome to serve the Arab public.

Dr. Ibrahim Mahlab commended the UAE for hosting the government summit for a second year in a row, which he said reflects its success and its effective role in developing a road map for governments in the Arab region, especially for developing government services and the services they provide to citizens.

The meeting was attended by  Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai,  Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai, Lt. Mohammed receives Arab ministers participating in the 3rd Government Summit

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Wednesday received Arab ministers participating in the 3rd Government Summit 2015.
 
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the event, was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
 
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the participation of the Arab ministers in this major international event, which aims primarily to help Arab governments to raise the level of government services in various educational, technical, administrative and health sectors.
 
The ministers commended the level of governmental services in the UAE, saying that they considered it to be a role model for their own countries, and expressed their hope for the quick implementation of the summit's proposals and recommendations.
 
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Lt. Mohammed honours winners of Best m-Government Service Awards

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum  honoured the winners of the second Best m-Government Service Award, which recognises excellence in government service, on Wednesday at the closing ceremony of the Third Government Summit 2015 which was organised in Dubai for three days under the theme 'Shaping Future Governments.'

As he honoured the winners,  Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said that the strong participation in the award this year across all the categories (national, Arab and international), highlights the clear success of the UAE Government in providing a global platform to showcase the best smart government services that are in line with future demand.

Sheikh Mohammed said that the Best m-Government Service award, now in its second year, underlines the commitment of the UAE to consolidate its leading international position in innovation and creativity, as well as in the adoption of best practices in providing outstanding government services, and improving the performance of future governments by leveraging modern technologies to increase the well-being and happiness of the people.

Present at the honouring ceremony were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council; Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC);  Lt. In the In the tourism sector, Dubai Culture and Arts, the Ministry of Tourism in Saudi Arabia and the 'i-Tour Seoul' application from South Korea, won the award in the local, regional and international categories, respectively.

In the healthcare sector, the winners are: UAE Ministry of Health; 'Qaryebon' app by the National Committee to Promote Mental Health in Saudi Arabia, and 'My QuitBuddy' application of the National Health Commission in Australia.

In the security and safety sector, the mobile application of Dubai Police, 'Shield,' an app by Lebanese army, and 'Safe Stepping Stone' won the honours in the three categories.

The mobile application presented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, won the local level award in Education sector. At the Arab level, the award went to the application by the Saudi Ministry of Education, while HKDSE won for its app at the international level.

In the social affairs sector, the winners in the three categories of local, regional and international, respectively are: General Women's Union in Abu Dhabi for its 'Productive Families Shop' application; 'Formal Donations' app from Oman and 'Active Citizen' app from Russia.

'Darb,' the smart phone application by Abu Dhabi Transport department received the local level award, while Bahrain smart government won at the Arab level for its 'mTickets' app and Luxembourg won in the international category.

In the economy and trade sector, the award went to Ministry of Justice at the local level, the General Authority for Consumer Protection in Oman at Arab level, and 'Hong Kong Trade' application by the Trade & Business Development Council in Hong Kong at the international level.

The winners of Dh1 million in the UAE university students category are: University of Jazeera for its mobile application to distribute fortified food in the social affairs sector; Abu Dhabi University for its Al Najdah application in the safety and security sector; and Al Khawarizmi International College for its mobile application 'La Tarasoul'  in the safety and security sector.

The jury evaluated the entries on the basis of level of efficiency, effectiveness, lesser number of steps needed to avail of the service, lower cost and increase in percentage of customer satisfaction. The experienced and competent jury members chose mobile applications that reflect best practices in delivering smart, simple and comprehensive services.

The Best m-Government Service Award 2015 received over 411 submissions, with 76 entries qualifying for the final phase. Over 181 entries were from UAE universities and government entities, of which 96 were entries by students representing 20 universities, highlighting their strong interest in the awards nation-wide.

Mohammed honours deaf students for developing driving safety app

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Wednesday honoured a team of deaf students from Al Khawarizmi International College who developed Al Najdha (meaning Rescue in Arabic) app which disables keypads of mobile phones to prevent car drivers from using their devices for SMS texting while driving.

Using sign language, the students who collaborated with the Ministry of Interior to develop the smart app, thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid

"We are happy to receive this honour", they said.

"I am proud of you," Sheikh replied also in sign language. He praised the team for their efforts and noted that they are not inferior to others when it comes to innovation and development of advanced services that promote safety and security in society and improve services for all members of the public.

The honouring was part of the awarding ceremony of second Best m-Government Service Award, which recognises excellence in government service.
