Mohammed: UAE people, leadership and army are one team

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has affirmed that interaction and response of the UAE people to his ''Thank you our Armed Forces, protectors of the land and guardians of the union'' initiative underscored the true spirit, great love and the close, good ties between the UAE people and their armed forces.
 
In a statement marking the conclusion of the national initiative, Sheikh Mohammed said, ''Our army is strong with its ordnance, gallant with its high morale, and always remains alert. Relationship between the armed forces and the people is one of love, thankfulness and gratitude.''
 
Sheikh Mohammed praised the overwhelming response he sensed from children and adults and the deep sentiments expressed by the UAE people over the past few days towards the armed forces. That interaction has captured the attention of the people within the UAE and abroad.
 
''The UAE people, leadership and army are one hand and one heart, one team all seeking to build a promising future of the UAE,'' Sheikh Mohamed said, adding that his message had reached all officers and personnel of the UAE Armed Forces and the coming days will see us extend more support and tribute to their patriotic acts.
 
''Thanks also go to the UAE people for their interaction, determination and love,'' he said.
 
'What is special in the UAE is that the people express thanks, the army offers sacrifices and challenges will only further cement our power and solidarity. We pray to the Almighty Allah to preserve the people, president and army of the UAE.''
 
Sheikh Mohammed dedicated his Accession Day to thank the UAE Armed Forces and invited everyone to join the celebrations.

He also invited the entire nation to join in and show its gratitude towards the Armed Forces, who are part of every home, family, and institution of the UAE.
 
The six-day nation-wide campaign of love and thanks to the UAE Armed Forces has elicited enthusiastic response from all spectrums of the society through the social media and other print and audio-visual media organs.
 
It has been the custom of Sheikh Mohammed to dedicate his accession day, January 4, and redirect its celebrations to thank members of the community that deserve recognition, asking all citizens and residents to join in and express their thanks as they see fit. For this occasion, Sheikh Mohammed has launched a wide social media campaign to allow all to express their love and send their thanks to the Armed Forces on Twitter and Instagram using a newly created hashtag.

'Thank You Guardians of Nation’ campaign attracts more than 190,000 users on social media


A hashtag in Arabic that translates as ‘guardians of the nation,’ created by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on his accession day to pay homage to the UAE Armed Forces, has gone viral on the social media, attracting more than 90 million viewers.

Over the six-day campaign, the hashtag drew more than 190,000 users on Twitter and over 7,000 videos and photos on the Instagram, an average of 1,000 videos a day.

UAE citizens and expatriates as well as public and private organisations engaged positively and creatively in the increasingly popular campaign to pay tribute to the Armed Forces either through words, a picture, a phrase, or a video.

Dedicating his Accession Day to thank the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed invited through his Twitter account the whole nation to join in and show gratitude towards the UAE Armed Forces, which are part of every home, family, and institution of this great nation. He asked all individuals and organizations to share a message of thanks and support to those brave sons and daughters of the UAE.

"Thank you guardians of our nation for being a shield for the UAE. Thank you for answering the call of duty and for putting the country before yourselves. Thank you for giving us your absolute dedication, time and effort, night and day," Sheikh Mohamed tweeted.

In a series of tweets, Sheikh Mohammed also shared a YouTube video dedicated to the Armed Forces, which notes the hashtag for the new campaign.

Followers of the campaign hashtag contributed over 193,000 tweets while the campaign's trendy hashtag attracted more than 17 million viewers.
