President appoints first attorney general

The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued federal decree No.135 of 2014 appointing Dr Hamad Saif bin Musallam Al Shamsi as first attorney general.

Dr Hamad received his Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Sharia and Law at UAE University, and Master’s degree in private law from the Arab Republic of Egypt.  He earned his doctoral degree in private law in Britain.

He also represented the country in a number of negotiations pertaining to bilateral agreements between the UAE and foreign and Arab countries.

Al Shamsi supervised training of judicial trainees and technical and administrative supervision departments during his tenure at Al Ain Public Prosecution.

He also participated in a number of local, Arab and international conferences and seminars, where he presented working papers.

He also presided over many legal and legislative committees.

He later received several promotions in the public federal prosecution.
