Sheikh Ahmed opens Dubai International PM Forum

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and President of the National Olympic Committee, opened on Monday the third edition of the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF).

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) held the event in collaboration with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Emaar Properties, and the Projects Management Institute (PMI) under the theme: Shaping the Future.

Heads of government departments, top executives of private entities, and a plethora of international experts and specialist of projects management industry attended the opening ceremony.

HH and attendees watched a movie about the DIPMF spotlighting the evolution of development process in the Emirate of Dubai until it shaped into one of the top financial and business hubs. It also highlighted the milestones of the past editions of the Forum.

In his keynote speech in the opening of the DIPMF, Bill McDermott, CEO and Board Member of SAP SE, commended the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021 and Dubai Strategic Plan 2021. He hailed the sweeping development seen by the Emirate of Dubai in terms of upgrading the infrastructure and nurturing an improved mass transit system. He said that he was delighted for being in Dubai as it seeks to enhance sustainability, people happiness and building a successful economy.

He stated the ambitious vision of the UAE proved that the Government could be creative in its own right, and move ahead towards bringing a massive change in business and life.

Afterwards, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, accompanied by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), unveiled the logo of Hamdan bin Mohammed for Innovation in Project Management Award, and the website of the Award launched during the 2nd edition of the DIPMF 2015.

The Award seeks to nurture the culture of innovation in PM worldwide, adopt creative and sustainable solutions, honouring innovators, exploring and assessing creative projects and sharing expertise in projects management.

At the sidelines of the event, HH Sheikh Ahmed received Dr. Ruediger Chairman of the Board and CEO of Deutsche Bahn. The two parties discussed issues related to the latest developments of the rail industry.

HH also received Bill McDermott, CEO and Board Member of SAP SE, and the two parties discussed Dubai transition to the Smart Government and how to apply Information and communications technology (ICT) in delivering improved services to the public as well as the PPP and its role in leveraging the development process.

Al Tayer, who welcomed the participants in the Forum, stated that the DIPMF is part of Dubai endeavours to play a key role in nurturing and expediting the development drive at high class standards.

He noted that PM is catalyst for achieving the organisational objectives of any entity. It requires an institutional system and competent cadres to play an effective role in nurturing a solid project management environment.
