UAE signs defence contracts worth Dh3bn

The UAE has signed defence contracts worth Dh4 billion on the third day of the 10th International Defence Conference and Exhibition (Idex 2011), spokesperson Major General Obaid Al Ketbi announced on Tuesday.

“Emiraje System won a contract valued at $550 million (Dh2 billion) for the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I),” Al Ketbi said.

France's Nexter Systems was awarded a Dh423 million deal for technical support for LeClerc tank.

French Dassault Aviation bagged a contract worth Dh112.4 million for upgrading weapon systems of the Mirage 2000.

“The UAE Armed Forces also signed a contract with UAE's IGG at Dh392.6 million for purchase and supply of assorted weapons and ammunitions as well as Global Positioning Systems, Al Ketbi added.

Meanwhile, General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received visiting military delegation heads at the Armed Forces Officers Club.
