Grandmom gives birth to grand-daughter

A 61-year-old Indian woman gave birth to her own granddaughter!
 
The elderly woman decided to play the surrogate mother because her 21-year-old daughter could no longer bear children as she had her uterus removed following complications after she delivered a still-born baby, reported ‘newindianexpress’.

The baby was born late last year weighing a healthy 2.7kg, announced the hospital as it prepares to honour the mother and daughter today on the occasion International Women’s Day.
 
However, the procedure was not without complications as the grandmom had reached her menopause stage.

Doctors at the Akash Fertility Centre and Hospital Medically in Chennai medically restored her menstrual cycle and the foetus was developed using intracytoplasmic sperm injection.

The egg belonged to her daughter and the sperm of her son-in-law.
