A couple was very happy when they learned that they were having 10 children at once.

The woman in India, gave birth to her ten children at once, but none of them survived.

Anju Kushwaha, 28, of the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, went into labor at just 12 weeks and was rushed to a hospital with her husband Sanjay.

The woman gave birth to nine children on the way, while the 10th was born in the hospital. All of them were born dead.

Kushwaha has been receiving fertility treatments, according to gynecologist Dr. Sumitra Yadav.

The doctor said that this pregnancy was a case of "hyper stimulation syndrome,” where fertility drugs stimulate the ovaries to produce many egg sacs.

The woman reportedly did not go back to the doctor to monitor the pregnancy after her IVF treatment.

“At least three children could have been saved by the reducing the number of babies," Yadav said.

This pregnancy marks the highest number of babies in a womb in India, and the second highest in the world.

In 1971, a doctor in Rome claimed to have delivered 15 babies at a time. However, none of those babies survived.
