Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky 'spending three months apart', reports Daily Mail.

Their lavish wedding last summer had the world captivated. But it seems that the honeymoon period is already over for Chelsea Clinton and her new husband, reports Daily Mail.

The paper said, Marc Mezvinsky has quit his job as an investment banker in favour of a three-month break at the exclusive ski resort of Jackson Hole in Wyoming.

But rather than accompanying her husband on the extended break, the Secretary of State's daughter will be remaining in New York instead.

The nature of the couple's temporary separation remains something of a mystery.

The fact that the pair will be living apart comes as something of a surprise, given that friends claim Ms Clinton is desperate to start a family.

A representative for Ms Clinton declined to comment on the reports, but a source close to the couple told the Daily that the 30-year-old would be visiting her husband every few weeks.

The couple married on July 31 in a ceremony estimated to cost $5million, that was dubbed by the press as 'America's Royal Wedding'.

They live on New York's Fifth Avenue in an apartment Mr Mezvinsky has owned since 2008.

The pair met while they were both studying at Stanford University in California in 1997, though they didn't start dating until 2005.

Marc is the son of former Republicans Ed Mezvinsky and Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky.

Marc’s family were close to Bill and Hillary Clinton during their time at the White House – and were frequent guests at state dinners.
