After days of speculation and responding to well-wishers that have come out to support her as news broke of her ex-husband Imran Khan’s ‘secret wedding’ to a former weather girl, Jemima Khan finally breaks her silence.

The 40-year-old mother to Khan’s two sons, Sulaiman Isa Khan, 18, and Qasim Khan, 15, has wished the Pakistani politician happiness ‘in this new phase of his life’ after it was reported he married former BBC employee Reham Khan.

In the statement, Jemima said: “Thank you so much to all those Pakistanis who have sent me such lovely messages over the last few days. I am really touched.

“I’ll always love Pakistan. Thanks to my sons and the love I’ve been shown there, I’ll always feel like an honorary Pakistani, no matter what.”

She further added: “And I hope Imran will be happy in this new phase of his life.”

It was reported in the press that the chairman of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party flew to London earlier this week to break the news to his two sons and his former wife, who is the daughter of late British billionaire Sir James Goldsmith.

Reham Khan, meanwhile, has been bearing the brunt of several negative comments across social media platforms, prompting her to respond: “I had no idea that a divorce was not allowed in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”

The 62-year-old Imran’s marriage to Jemima ended in 2004. The former sportsman turned politician is expected to make an official announcement in the next 24 hours.
