'July 17 will be first day of Eid'

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Researcher in Astronomy, Meteorology and General Supervisor of the Sharjah Planetarium, has forecast that based on the Planetarium’s calculations Eid Al Fitr is likely to fall on Friday, July 17.

Speaking to ‘Emarat Al Youm’ Jarwan explained that the crescent of the month of ‘Shawwal’ will be on July 16, 5.24pm local time in the UAE.

“Thus Friday, July 17 will be the lunar month of Shawwal and the first day of Eid Al Fitr,” he was quoted as saying.

On the average temperature in the UAE for the month of July, Jarwan is quoted as saying that the average maximum temperature during the day will be 41 degree Celsius in the shade, with the minimum night temperature dropping to 26 degree Celsius.
