Kuwait may have 9-day break for Eid

Kuwait may approve a nine-day break for its civil servants if Eid Al Adha (feast of sacrifice) begins on Sunday Sept 11, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The cabinet will announce the long holiday after it is confirmed that Eid Al Adha starts on September 11, when millions of Muslim pilgrims stand on Mount Arafat during their annual Haj seasons in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The Arabic language daily, quoting Civil Service Council sources, said in case Eid begins on Sunday, the cabinet will add Thursday to the holiday.

“This means the holiday will be from Friday, September 9 to Saturday September 17.

“Work will resume on Sunday Sept 18,” the report said.
