Kuwaiti will deport 1,170 foreigners residing illegally in the Gulf emirate after they were seized during raids on various areas of the capital Kuwait City.

The raids over the past week were part of a crackdown on illegal migrants and other expatriate violators of the labour and immigration law.

Newspapers said those arrested, mostly Asians, included 117 illegal entrants, 218 whose visa has expired and 269 without ID papers.
