Leave your phone and cross the road

Ajman Police started a campaign ‘Leave the phone to cross the road safely’ in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic, the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Lieutenant Colonel Ali Humaid Al Musaibi, Director, Traffic and Patrolling Department, Ajman Police, said, the move aims to ensure that pedestrians fully concentrate on the roads while crossing in order to avoid accidents.

"Last year, there were 102 run-over accidents due to the lack of concentration while crossing roads and many of the victims were found using mobile phones,” he said.

“Pedestrians must respect traffic rules to avoid accidents, just like motorists," he added.

As part of the campaign brochures are distributed in schools and colleges.
