Man dies after car catches fire in Abu Dhabi
An Asian man in his 60s died after his car caught fire while he was driving on one of the key roads in Abu Dhabi, newspapers reported on Sunday.
Civil Defence personnel rushed to the scene on Muror Road where the car was still on fire and managed to control the blaze before it spread to other vehicles and sites.
“The man was pulled out of the charred car but he was dead,” the Arabic language daily Al Khaleej said, quoting Civil Defence spokesman Captain Abdullah Al Tamimi.
It did not identify the victim but said police were investigating the cause of the accident.
Family of four killed in house fire in Oman
Muscat - An Omani, his wife and two children were killed after their house caught fire while they were asleep at dawn in the Sultanate, newspapers reported on Sunday.
The four had been jolted out of bed by the blaze but could not get out of their house in the capital Muscat after it was engulfed by the fire.
Police said the four were found dead after the fire was put out, adding that preliminary examination showed they suffocated to death by the smoke. “The cause of the fire is still not known but police are investigating,” Al Watan daily said without mentioning the age of the two children.
