A man who suffered from a permanent disability because of a road accident lost a Dh5 million legal case against an insurance company, the Arabic language daily Alittihad said on Thursday.
The unnamed man had won Dhone million in damages in an earlier court sentence but an appeal court decided to increase the sum to Dh3.2 million, the paper said.
Both sides decided to appeal again at the Supreme Federal Court, which revoked the earlier sentence on the grounds the plaintiff is not covered by insurance in such accidents.
The man had filed a case against the unidentified insurance firm to seek damages after suffering from a permanent disability in the accident that was caused by a reckless driver who did not have a driving licence, the paper said.
