Japanese and South Korean car manufactures have announced recall campaigns in the UAE.

The Ministry of Economy – Consumer Protection Department and Nissan Middle East have recalled some models of Sunny, which were manufactured between 2015 and 2016.

“The IC (instrument cluster) for the turn signal lamp control in the body control unit may break due to the static electricity charged on the front combination lamp and turn signal lamps will therefore remain on,” the campaign advert read.

Nissan said it will install a supplementary wiring harness to discharge the static electricity on the potentially affected vehicles at no cost to the customer.

The company has called upon customers who own 2015 to 2016 Sunny to have their vehicles inspected and repaired.

The vehicle production year is available on the identification plate or sticker attached to the driver’s door-jam.

The chassis number for two vehicles start from 700012 to 700013 and 9674 cars start from 700002 to 802058.

Separately, the Ministry of Economy – Consumer Protection Department and Al Majid Motor Company has recalled 2015-2016 Soul.

“The campaign is aimed to inspect and replace steering column screw to eliminate any excessive clearances that might cause a notice when moving the steering wheel to right or left,” the campaign read.

The distributor said it will contact the affected customers to inform them about the recall to inspect their vehicles and replace the affected parts.
