Kris’s teleserye to conclude soon

MANILA - TV host-actress Kris Aquino, sister of President Benigno Aquino III, has denied rumours that her teleserye (TV drama series) with Robin Padilla is going to be axed soon because of the latter’s wife being jealous of her.

Aquino clarified that the condition agreed upon was really for ABS-CBN’s ‘Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw’ (All I Want is You) to run for only 12 weeks. “That was the agreement even before the show had started,” she has told showbiz scribes.

Rumours are rife that Padilla, who used to be Aquino’s flame when she was new in showbiz, has been having difficulty concentrating on the set because of Mariel, his wife, who disapproves of his torrid kissing scenes with Aquino.

Aquino said she feels that the rumours about Mariel being jealous of her could only be that—rumours. She explained that Padilla has been in the showbiz for too long, and by now his wife must have clearly understood the nature of his job.

The ABS-CBN staff members handling ‘Kailangan’ have all been praises for Aquino’s performance, saying that this series could really make her career as a dramatic actress. They said she could get all the major acting awards for the drama series.

Earlier reports said that Aquino was much happier these days, as she has been getting three text messages everyday from a mysterious suitor, whom showbiz insiders have identified as TV-movie director Lino Cayetano.

Cayetano, who is on leave from his showbiz work as he is running for congressman in the fourth district of Taguig, the bailiwick of the Cayetanos, one of the Philippines’ most popular political clans. He is a brother to Senators Allan Peter Cayetano and Pia Cayetano, and their father was the late senator Rene Cayetano.

Aquino, in the meantime, has rejected the offer made by director Jun Lana for her to star in his indie movie project, ‘Barber’s Tale’, where she was supposed to cut her hair as dictated by the script.

She has a standing commercial endorsement, however, that prohibits her from cutting her long, black and silky hair until a certain period.

Aquino and Lana were classmates at the elite Ateneo de Manila University.
