Metro Manila’s crazy love: Lady steals T-shirt for boyfriend’s birthday

What price love? Or, how far would you go for love?

For a 20-year-old lady in a Metro Manila suburb of Pasig City, it’s a 700-peso (Dh63.25) T-shirt and a prison cell.

Police yesterday apprehended Lea Fernandez, a resident of Cainta, Rizal, also in Metro Manila, on the basis of a complaint filed by a representative of Robinsons Metro East, in the city’s Barangay Dela Paz, that she shoplifted a T-shirt from the department store.

“I stole the T-shirt because I wanted to give it to my boyfriend, whom I love so much and who will be celebrating his birthday tomorrow,” she explained to investigators at the Pasig City Police on Saturday.

Police said that Fernandez, who is now in prison pending a full investigation into the incident, is facing charges of theft.

She cried her heart out inside the cell, lamenting over not being able to see her boyfriend and having no gift for him on his birthday.
