With heavy rainfall lashing parts of the UAE, Dubai Airports has confirmed it is experiencing flight delays owing to ‘operational reasons’.
Several passengers aboard a Jet Airways Dubai-bound flight have taken to social media to report their aircraft was diverted to neighbouring Sharjah earlier today.
“Dubai International is experiencing some delay in arrivals and departures owing to operational reasons and local weather conditions,” a Dubai Airports spokesperson confirmed.
“Dubai Airports is working with airlines, air traffic control, and other partners to minimise any inconvenience to our customers.”
The spokesperson further said passengers are advised to check Dubaiairports.ae or contact their respective airline for updates on their flights, check-in times at the airport remain as normal.
Passengers are being advised to anticipate a longer commute to the airport due to the traffic conditions in this wet weather.
Meanwhile, passengers took to Twitter to say their Jet Airways Mumbai-Dubai flight was diverted to Sharjah.
The airline’s online flight ticker confirmed flight 9W 542 was diverted to Sharjah and is expected to land in Dubai at 1.20pm.
