14 killed in Oman road accidents in past week

Road accidents have killed 14 people and injured 119 others in Oman over the past week and police said speed was a key cause of the mishaps.

Five were killed in Batina province while three died in Muscat, three in the central region and the rest in other parts of the Sultanate.

Police, quoted by local newspapers, said 101 accidents occurred during the week and 58 of them involved cars crashing into each others.

“We appeal for all drivers to stick to the speed limits to prevent such deadly accidents and bloodshed on roads…we also call on drivers to do regular maintenance of their vehicles,” police said in a statement.
