Saudi doctors removed a seven kg tumor from the uterus of a local woman who had suffered from severe abdominal pains for months.

Doctors at private hospitals had told the woman, in her 20s, that she must have all of her uterus removed, but she refused, according to ‘Sabq’ newspaper.

It said the woman then visited the Riyadh-based King Fahd Medical City, where doctors said she needed an urgent operation.

“The tumor was removed in a successful operation without any complications to the woman’s uterus or other organs. She has now improved and would soon leave hospital,” the paper said, quoting Dr Karima Salamah, a gynaecology consultant.
