Residents of a Saudi village strolling near a local farm got a shock when they saw two massive alligators swim in a small swamp just in the back of the farm, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Wednesday.
One alligator is around two metres long while the other is more than one metre and both appeared to have been living in the swamp for a while, said the online Arabic language daily Sharq, which ran photos of the two crocodiles.
The two alligators were sighted inside a small deserted swamp formed by a fountain near Khuwailidya village in the eastern province of Qatif, the paper said, adding they have fed on birds and small animals in the area.
“They could hardly believe their eyes when they saw the two crocodiles but all of them said they did not know where or how these crocodiles came to the swamp.”
The paper said the village’ inhabitants had informed the authorities about the alligators, saying such types of reptiles breed quickly and could pose a serious threat to the local residents.
