Child saves maid from suicide

A Saudi eight-year-old boy saved a housemaid from death when she tried to hang herself after learning that her father and son were in serious condition as a result of an accident at home, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Sensing danger, the boy’s mother rushed back from work and found her maid hanging herself at the house in the central town of Zalfi, Alriyadh said.

“When the maid saw her employer, she tightened the rope around her neck and let her body down, prompting the boy’s mother to rush towards her and try to lift her up,” it said.

“But she was unable to carry her…the boy was smart enough to rush to the other room and bring a chair…they both lifted her and supported her legs with the chair…they phoned the ambulance, who took the unconscious maid to hospital for treatment.”

The paper said the employers of the unidentified maid would let her travel to her home country to see her father and son once she is out of hospital.
