A Saudi man in his 40s murdered his 13-year-old son, cut his head off and kept it in his car before was arrested by police in the Gulf Kingdom.
The crime was discovered when the boy’s grandfather reported him missing and told police that when he asked his father, he simply relied :”Perhaps he could be snatched by some one or he’s just gone with the wind.”
“When police summoned the father and interrogated him, they were shocked when he collapsed and confessed to murdering his son.” Okaz daily said.
“They were even more shocked when they asked him about the body and he simply replied that he has only the head, which he placed in his car.”
Okaz said the murder took place in the western Saudi town of Makkah and quoted police spokesman Lt Colonel Abdul Mohsen Miman as saying the father is a drug addict and could also have psychological problems.
“He will undergo medical examination,” said Dr Tariq Al Bar, head of the psychiatry department in Makkah.
“But we should not blame mental problems for every crime committed…this is one of the strangest and most hideous murders ever perpetrated in the Kingdom and I don’t believe it could be committed by a psychiatry patient…I also don’t think family disputes are a motive for the crime.”
