An Oman Air flight from Muscat to Delhi has faced an emergency in the Indian capital on Thursday morning, suffering a tyre burst while taxiing towards the terminal.

The country’s flagship carrier had 150 passengers on board and post landing, was taxiing at the airport when two left tyres burst.

The carrier has confirmed all the passengers are safe and the incident is under investigation.

Oman Air stated: “Oman Air flight WY241 from Muscat- Delhi, both left tyres burst during taxi. Seven hours are required for investigation and rectification.

“The incident occurred on the flight, which had just landed when two nose-wheel tyres of the aircraft burst.”

Contrary to some reports, Oman Air has stated all passengers disembarked “safely and smoothly using steps and were transferred to the terminal building by buses.”

The airline further added: “The spares and a new set of crew will travel to Delhi to bring the aircraft back to base with minimum delay.”
